 Oh, we have been Nico...
We got in touch with Lior from Israel too in the end and have been out for a snowy ride, trail digging and BMX track session over the past week with him...
Cheers for putting him in touch, although I am not sure if Mark and I are fit enough to give him the workout he wants!!!!
Riding on!

 You're welcome Niko.
Mark uses his Pig for mostly flat training and some XC so he has it built up for that really; he loves it; it has turned into his daily bike of choice methinks. I suspect you might be using one more off road though!!!

I have tried loads of combinations Niko, single 32T, 36T, 38T... double 22-38/36..
Right now I'm on a single ring 36T front with 11-36 rear; a bit brutal on the climbs to say the least!!!! Push on!!

A 32 front was much better for AM but it span out too easily on the flats; where I spend my Monday to Friday, so I upped that.
Apparently Hope Industries are going to bring out a 9-36T... that might make a front 32T work better all round and'll help my 44 year old knees!

A double up front would be better no doubt. It's just a single allows me to justify getting off to push and chat with Mark on the climbs!! We live for the down sides anyway!

Cheers Niko! Will give my regards to the boys.... Kai however has got into road racing recently and has been winning everything he enters (bit of an exaggeration but he is super fdast!).

I got my Cotic (photo on my profile page) direct from the owner / desigher, Cy Turner. They do a whole range of hardtails, full rigids, cyclo cross bikes and have built up a strong following and reputation in the UK. One of their bikes, the SOUL has been in the Dirt 100 best bike frames for years; people who ride it say it is head and shoulders the benchmark steel hardtail. The BFe is built for more punishment for those who want to do a DH build if they want.... take a look here at their website. http://www.cotic.co.uk/product/

Brett Hutchings (Ragley) has worked with alot of UK bike designers in the UK including the people at Cotic and Stanton (I seem to remember). The Stanton Slackline ( http://www.stantonbikes.com/bikes ) is their main bike at the moment. Both it and the Cotic bikes use Reynolds 853 as their main tubing so both to a certain extent will have similar flex characteristics. I seem to remember that Ragley use it too....

Mark got a Blue Pig from CRC (Chain Reaction) about a year ago and they can deal with Ragley I think. Cotic only deal direct with online customers and in my experience Cy always has time to exchange ideas for sizing and builds with potential customers... altogether he, Brett and Dan Stanton have a repuation for being both excellent designers and people that are real enthusiasts for what they do...

Whatever you get I know you will make it rip!!!
Ride on!

Nice!!! Orange stripe Maxxis.... ah that takes us all back! Haven't been on PB for months so it's great to see what you have been up to Niko.... fettling as usual!

I love this build, it shows just what fun you can have in the shed with some ideas and some bits and pieces; 16 inch BB eh.... I bet that's fun on the switchbacks!!

Keep it up Niko....an inspiration to all of us!!!!
BTW, as for a HT; I really rate the Cotic BFe as a do-it all hardtail; DJs and 4X with Kai and Mark, Downhill on our local trails, XC mates race on Sunday.... it does the lot and is super fun as a commuter too; take a look and see if it might work for you. Ragley's and Stanton bikes might interest you too....

Sorry for the late reply Graeme....
I don't know what kind of riding you do so take all this with a pinch of salt however, if mine got lost, stolen or broken, I would definitely buy another one...
I have taken it to the DJs, 4X track, all mountain and DH trials and on Sunday next I am on it on an XC mates race,,
It literally can let you have fun doing all of them.
No, you won't win anything on it,,, there are better specialist DJ, 4X, All mountain, DH and XC bikes, but this one can do 'em all. Truly a do it all hardtail and the build you do can emphasize what you like the most....

Yes, it all makes perfect sense. It is Japanese. "Aaron is like a dream. I'd pay big money to have him take dirty photos with me!"

Absolutely, both Picasso and my blindside have an aching for a younger woman to ride it. All this beast gets is my 40 something butt!

I'll try it out. I'm not proud! I'm not young any more and if it meant I could get more runs in in a day, I'd give it a go. We are not all young whippersnappers with needs to "earn" the downhill... Is anyone seriously going to boycott Whistler (or in my case Fujimi in Japan) because it has a lift? I think not! Lifts and electric DH bikes for the aging population!!!! I fully intend to keep riding until my body gives in!!!!!!!

Great shot!!! But no way is it as dangerous as many people think here and I would do it if I knew the breather. I have done this (as a fire breather, not a rider). As many have pointed out, the flame is highly likely to be ethanol or paraffin (we used to use paraffin); it is the basic fuel used by performers who work with fire. A fire breather can send out a spray of fuel that will take the flame from the torch you hold out in front of your face and burn it out instantly (as it burns only the vapour off). Any large drops of fuel will not ignite. If you pass through the flame (as in this great pic) especially at high speed, nothing you are wearing will catch fire (unless you have soaked it in petrol or something stupid!) or even get very hot. You will proabably only lose some hairs off any skin you have left open to the elements!!! So wear gloves and a helmet. We used to regularly soak toilet rolls over night in paraffin, bind them up with gaffer tape and string and then play volleyball with them the next night. Now there's a game!!!

Cheers Niko; it just loves Fujimi. It's even been down the local DJ and 4X track where it was like riding on a honey filled sofa! I will bring it down to kyuushu one day when life has a day off and you are more than welcome to ride!

Thanks Sam; oh yes, Superstar and CRC make me a happy boy in the land of the rising price. Quality bits and bobs.
